I Have a Garden 2021

It's been a few years since I wrote anything here about gardening. At that time, we were helping Mom with growing some new fruits and vegetables in her yard. (You'd think I'd know something more about gardening when you consider what my last name is and what my ancestors did for a living for generations upon generations.)

Today, Mom no longer has that house nor her garden. But anyhow we have tomatoes! We found a little spot in our tiny backyard, which is in reality smaller that most of your walk-in closets. It's also Leia's personal bathroom, so the compost is an added bonus ... I guess?

My multitalented wife has been caring for these crops all summer long. I must say, they look pretty good.

Harvest

UPDATE: We have been checking in on Mom's garden (the very same one we helped her plant back in May) throughout the summer. We picked some veggies the other day, and we have been pleased with the fruit of our labors . . . so to speak.

I Have a Garden

Admittedly, and other than some weeding I often begrudgingly did as chores when I was a kid, I've not been the tiller of the soil that my last name indicates my ancestors were. Nevertheless, I've been trying to turn over a new leaf, so to speak, recently.

For Mother's Day, JB and I, along with some of the other siblings, donated time and helped Mom de-clutter the garage and other parts of the house. We also weeded and prepared her garden for planting vegetables. Last week, we stopped by to check on the progress of the Brussels sprouts, tomatoes, and other veggies we planted.

For the most part, they look pretty good. We're looking forward to seeing the fruits (so to speak, again) of our labors over the next several weeks.
