Family Dinner/February 2018

At Sunday's family dinner, we enjoyed a traditional English dinner, including Yorkshire pudding, mashed and roasted potatoes, and turkey. We also celebrated our two family birthday boys for the month: Dave and Jeff.

Among other myriad activities, the kids enjoyed playing dress-up with Grandma's new costumes. Pictured here are Kate (Batgirl), Christian (Captain Phasma), and Graham (Stormtrooper):

I look at this photo and think to myself: We are definitely raising these kids right.

"The Little Mermaid (Junior)"

Last night, JB and I braved the weather and very snowy roads to travel up to Samuel Morgan Elementary School in Kaysville to see my nine-year-old nephew Jackson perform in their school musical The Little Mermaid Jr. I may be a bit biased, but Jack was phenomenal in the role of French chef Louis, singing lead on "Les Poissons" and acting his little heart out. He also played one of the seagulls in a number of other scenes.

The acting bug has certainly bit many members of the family, and I love to see it continue to happen.

Groundhog Day

It was Groundhog Day . . . again! yesterday, and that must mean we gathered as family and a few close friends for our annual Groundhog Day (the movie) party at Ben's and Adi's home in Centerville to watch the movie; enjoy movie-inspired goodies, such as "groundhog"(smokies) and Sweet Vermouth on the Rocks, with a twist (basically grape juice mixed with Sprite); and play the toss-the-playing-card-in-the-hat game, among other festivities.

Not to too my own horn or anything, but (honk! honk!) yours truly scored 100 percent on the Groundhog Day quiz and won a cinnamon roll, which my nephews helped me eat.
